Sunday - March 10

Foggy in the morning but cleared off to a nice sunny, warm day.    We went to 9:00 Mass at St. Vincent de Paul, picked up a few groceries at Publix and on home.   Changed clothes, tidied up Flo and off to meet Ed and Fran, long-time boating friends.    They live in Door County but visiting in Florida for a few weeks and going on a cruise later in the week.

It was so good to see them.......they drofe down from Davenport, FL and we met at The Boathouse.    Good lunch and visit, walked around looking at the boats (and drive-in boat wash - 1st time to see that novelty) and restaurant and back to Flo.    Walked around the park (clubhouse) and Mark showed off Big Red to Ed.    We all sat in the Heritage park (dedication is the 14th) and had lots of laughs and good time.    So pleasant sitting in the shade with a nice breeze.

Ed and Fran left around 5:15ish and looking forward to spending Tuesday together and visiting more friends in Bonita Springs.   

Lydia brought down some delicious ribs (last night was the BBQ rib contest here in the park and she was a participant).    Sure enjoyed them.

We walked in the park but didn't quite get my 10,000 steps - tired and tomorrow is another day!   Sure nice having the extra hour of daylight though!

Saturday - March 9

Another fun day in Fort Myers.    I'm trying to get back in the groove of exercising (lifting weights, walking and biking) - got that checked off the list and then later this morning we drove to Buckingham Farms (ya think we like this place?)    It's fun taking friends there who have never been and all agree it's sooo good.

We met long-time State Farm, boating and RV friends....Paula and Glen, Jeanne and Fred (they came from Punta Gorda).   Sat outdoors enjoying our lunch, walked around and then back to Cypress Trail and sat under the umbrella.    Jeanne and Fred left around 2:30 and rest of us walked around the park, visited with Jim and Lydia, etc.    Great day to be together!!!

I'm envious of the grandmas and grandpas in the park enjoying their grandchildren who are visiting with or without their parents!!!    Wish we could have ours down here........😢

Met our neighbors this morning who came in yesterday - 2 guys (John and Mike) from St. George Island, FL in the Panhandle.   We visited there back in 2008 and thought it was such a neat beach town with all the colorful homes on stilts along the gulf.    John and Mike own and operate a restaurant (The Beach Pit - BBQ and seafood) on St. George and had extensive damage from Hurricane Michael.    They are just 30 miles from Mexico Beach which was pretty much wiped off the map.    The Beach Pit was out of business for 3 1/2 weeks but now going strong.   But unfortunately so many others have never reopened due to no or minimal insurance or suffered a total loss.

Ryan completed his simulator training and now flying with an instructor on the 757 for 25  hours.    He's happy to be back flying and in just a few days, flew to - Wichita, Tijuana, Indianapolis, Portland, OR and Ontario, CA.   Those FedEx packages are going all over the world!!!  He's in the process of settling in his new home on Mud Island (Memphis) and will soon be getting his stuff from NC and IL.

Friday - March 8

Off to yoga this morning and Mark exercised.    Enjoyed our day at home and caught up on e-mails, reading, etc.    Mark had a quick stop (well not that quick with all the traffic) at Home Depot and Lowes.

Tonight we stood in line for the Mobstah Lobstah food truck - then another long wait for our food.    Very busy, but really enjoyed our fish and chips (Mark) and my coconut shrimp.

Played euchre and Rummikube at Jim and Lydia's - fun evening!

Thursday - March 7

Beautiful day with perfect temps and plenty of sunshine.     We met our old bridge friends from waaay back (the 70's) at Buckingham Farms for breakfast.   

 Leisurely 2-hour breakfast....Steve, Harry, Sharon, Connie, Pat, Diane, Sue, Jerry, Gerald, Mark

Another winner......walked around the farm, saw Roger the turtle, etc. and then onto Cypress Trail.    Sat and visited on the patio and then the girls went for a walk and showed them our clubhouse, they met Jim and Lydia and also went thru the model park model home and hear the spiel.

Back to our lot and guys sat in the back under the umbrella and we girls sat under Flo's canopy and visited all afternoon.

Around 4ish we left for the Boathouse - lots of people, live music, drinks and good food.

Said our good byes - most of these folks we'll see back in Bloomington; Connie and Steve, not till next year      A great day in SW Florida!

Wednesday - March 6

Nippy start to the day - 45 and climbing to just 66.   Lots of sunshine and nice breeze.    I did yoga at 9, Mark did paperwork and then we ran some errands.    Had lunch at the Cape Cod Fish Co. (a favorite) and enjoyed lobster rolls on this Ash Wednesday.

I got a haircut from Jewel, and then we picked up 2 more lobster rolls to go for Jim and Lydia.   On home - nap time! 

We went to 6:00 Mass at St. Francis and got our ashes.    The Lenten Season is underway....

Today was Wacky Wednesday at Luke's school - and here he is!!!
