Friday - August 3

We exercised this morning - cool and foggy.    Weather repeated itself from yesterday with the day starting off cool and then very foggy on the water and finally, sun coming out in the afternoon and a beautiful rest of the day!

We drove to Campobello Island in New Brunswick and thoroughly enjoyed the day.    Had lunch at Family Fisheries (seafood chowder for me and fish cakes for Mark  - very good).    We drove out to the lighthouse and chatted with a couple from Union, SC who are traveling in their RV, too.     We are on the Bay of Fundy with the highest tides in the world (#2 is Homer Spit, Alaska which we visited 3 years ago).    This lighthouse sits about 100 yards from where we were standing.    There is a ladder into the water and then one on other side to climb up.  The water is 40' deep and when the tide goes out.....bare mud/rocks, etc., and you can walk across (6-9 PM tonight).
Water is clear as a bell!

Drove to the Roosevelt Campobello International Park and watched a short video on the history of this beautiful landmark which is the only international park in the world with co-ownership (the US and Canada each owning 50%).

We had a guided tour of the grounds and gardens - flowers were magnificent.

One of many areas where the flowers bloomed - took lots of pics

Another area of blooms

As we were walking around the grounds, there was this fabulous smell....our guide said it was from the Lindenwood trees?

We then enjoyed a guided tour of the lovely home where FDR, Eleanor and their 5 children spent their summers.

Several of these American/Canadian flags are flying here at the campground

Well, our mail did NOT come today - so, we'll hang around in the morning and hopefully it will arrive early afternoon and we'll be on our way!

Tonight on Fox News, a farmer from IL was featured in his corn field talking about the drought with a reporter.    Annette had given us the heads up that Rob would be on - his daughter, Anita was her flower girl 7 years ago!!!   And now Anita and Drew  (ring bearer) are almost teenagers!!!

Soo sad to see the crops in such dire condition.
