Thursday - July 16

It was a long day of travel (210 miles) - Mark says felt more like 563!   HA.....but totally agree.....and as always, he was doing ALL the driving and did a stellar performance!!!    What a trooper.   So, we made it to our destination of Coos Bay at 3:30 after leaving Cannon Beach at 9:25.     First, we enjoyed our marionberry and butterhorn Danish and a fresh peach!   YUMMY!

We had sunshine, clouds and lots of fog over the water, but what a gorgeous drive along the Pacific.    The first 100 miles were mainly inland with lots of farms and dairy cattle, small towns, and oodles of coffee shops.    Stopped in Depoe Bay for lunch (Flo) and many of these towns (Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, and Newport) were very touristy but lots of people out and about.

The 2nd 1/2 of the trip was much more along the water and oh my, spectacular views although often hidden by trees.    Several places to pull over but not always conducive with Flo - hard to turn around or get back on highway.    Took lots and lots of pics,

Stopped at Devil's Churn in the Siuslaw National Forest - they had a nice parking area and of course, an espresso shop, so mid afternoon, a little pick-me-upper (+ warm up as it was 59 degrees) and really hit the spot.

Here are some of today's beauties...

Many sand dunes towards end of trip
These signs were all along 101 today

Liam had a ballgame in West Chicago today.   He and Anne were off for the day and Aunt Theresa (Mark's sister) who lives 10 minutes from the ballpark watched the game with Anne.    Liam's team was down 8-1 but came back....lost 9-8, but good game.

Had a good zoom session with Kathy and Claire.

Mark did pick-up from Ciccarelli's......chicken parm and prawn 'n scallop pasta.    Excellent dinners and may have to go back to this place!!!    *****

Coos Bay

Our view from Flo for the next 4 nights at the Mill Casino and RV Resort near North Bend, OR.
It is in the low 60's and very windy!
