Tuesday - July 7

11 years ago today we were in Alaska outside Denali Park (with Daisy and Toad) when we got the news that my Mom had died.    Seems like yesterday.....miss her so much and looking back on some happy pics today made me smile......
Mom and I getting pedicures (her first) on May 9, 2009.

I cannot imagine what she and Dad (and Patrick) are thinking about all that's going on in our world right now!!!

We had an enjoyable morning - after breakfast, we were off in Big Red checking out 2 ferry terminals (Anacortes and Coupeville).   Planning to take ferry rides the next few days to the San Juan Islands and Olympic National Park.

Drove around some of the other towns on Whidbey, had coffees at Angler's in Burlington and enjoyed the homes, boats and beautiful views of the water and mountains.    It was cloudy most of the day and just in the low 60's.    Also got Big Red a much-needed wash.

This is the main type of boat we've seen around here - (many sailboats, too), but with the chilly temps, this makes sense to be cozy and warm!
Boating - Washington style

Really awesome seeing and HEARING the roar of the jets flying around NAS Whidbey which is just a few miles from here!

This afternoon we walked across the street to Deception Pass State Park (the largest state park in Washington with over 4,000 acres).    We are on the south side of the park.

Entrance to this beautiful park

What a treat to see Bambi as we were leaving the park

Stopped at overlook of Deception Park - Yesterday when we were passing this with Flo, the water was a beautiful shade of aqua, but couldn't stop with Flo.    But today, with very little sun, the water is
not as pretty.

On the way back from our hike, we found a little deli advertising smoked salmon - YES.....been wanting some sort of salmon.
   Lemon pepper - excellent appetizer
Along with some icy cold Chardonnay, made for a "happy" happy hour!

BLT's for supper and planning for tomorrow when we are taking the ferry to the San Juan Islands
