Friday - July 7

A beautiful morning here and remembering 14 years ago today - July 7, 2009.    Mark and I were in Denali National Park in Alaska when we got the phone call that my Mom had passed away.    Sooo many memories of that awful day and making plans to leave Alaska and fly back to IL.   We miss you so much Mom.....you would be so proud of how your grandchildren and great grands are doing!    LOVE you....

The air quality here was 30 this morning - wow.....a far cry from the 233 last week!!!    We walked to Granny's for breakfast - love this place especially as I can get a 1, 2 or 3 egg omelet (1 is plenty and sooo good)!    Walked for a bit - just a gorgeous day after the 7/10" of rain we got last night.

There were 1-3' waves on the lake and not good going east where we were headed.    Since a bunch of boats were coming in today and we had to leave, we "hoped" that someone in their group would cancel (cause "they" didn't want to be on the lake) and that's exactly what happened - at 11:30, Ed, the dockmaster said we could stay but had to move to the wall to McGarvey's (this small area along the wall plus the slips at the Municipal are owned by same people and only 22 total dockage spots.)   We were more than happy to move to the wall (spent 10 days here last summer).   All settled by 12:20 and across from all the fishermen (lots of Amish) who come and go throughout the day.

Before we heard from Ed, I had walked downtown for a coffee (lavender white chocolate mocha latte - delish) at Woodstock.    Yesterday I gave "Brewed Awakening" some business - gotta support these local spots.    I took my coffee and walked to the beach - several ladies were just finishing "Beach Yoga" - every Monday and Friday from 8:30-9:30.    What fun and what a beautiful setting.    Also the Amish families with small kiddies were dipping their toes in the water lifting up their long dresses.

After lunch we got the bikes off the boat and enjoyed a 6.6 mile ride thru the Vermilion Lakes area - lots of beautiful newer homes and sweet little cottages along the lake.    What a glorious day - 75 and all sunshine!

Mark was off to the deli grocery for some ice cream and I walked downtown for a little more retail therapy.

Flags and flowers are everywhere in this town!

Catrina in Vermilion

We had drinks and snacks on Catrina's bridge watching the traffic (vehicle and boat) go by.    Then we shared a sweet potato and that was supper!

We are near the Quaker Steak and Lube Restaurant which has a big parking lot so I walked around it 5 times and called it a day!    This place is very popular!
