Wednesday - July 12

A change of plans for today.....we had planned to stay a 2nd night in Turkey Point, but rain is in the forecast the next few days, so Mark thought we should go somewhere with more action since we may be holed up for a while.    So, the plan was to leave this afternoon for Port Dover (10 miles NE) with a population of 7,520.    And they have a coffee shop!  😂

Light breakfast on the boat, Mark went for a bike ride around the very large marina (1.3 miles) while I did some tidying up.   Then off on the bikes past beautiful homes on the left and 2+ miles of beautiful beaches on the right.    Lots of folks enjoying the nice day.    It was to be cloudy and cool all day, but the sun was out and as a guy coming out of the food market said "This is a bonus day and enjoy as rain is coming."

We had heard the Sandbar was a great place to eat so headed there for lunch.    We arrived at 11:40, but they don't open till noon.    The waitress let us sit on the patio and she took our drink order but said the kitchen wouldn't get underway till noon.   No problem.    The patio and inside filled up quickly - I had a Reuben and the Mark, the burger special for the day - all delicious.

2 things we've noticed here in Canada.....they only have sweet iced tea - it has a different taste, too, but we are unsweet tea people!    And they do not give out plastic bags as we wanted one for our carryout leftovers from the Sandbar.    Not the easiest to carry the container while riding a bike, but Mark managed.   And at the food market, the clerk really didn't want to put our few items in a bag and had to look awhile to find one.   Guess it's all about bringing your own bags.

The flowers at Turkey Point were plentiful and so many of these beauties...

Snowball Viburnum
Hollyhocks at the Sandbar
My huge Reuben with side salad!\
Flying the Canadian flag off Catrina
Dan, the assistant manager at Turkey Point Marina was impressed and really appreciated that
we were flying their flag!!!

We left Turkey Point at 1:45 and had nice smooth ride to the Port Dover Harbor Marina where 4 folks (2 men and 2 women wearing red shirts + a dog) greeted us and took our lines.

Quiet afternoon and then went for a walk.  We stopped at The Terrace (part of the Hotel Erie) - rooftop restaurant that was recommended - we had drinks and an appetizer, then walked to the beach. a happening place with many choices to eat and grab your touristy souvenirs, beach paraphernalia, etc.    Downtown was nice with some cute shops and restaurants tucked in here and there.   Some more pretty blooms along our walk...
No clue?
Impatiens

and lots and lots more snowballs (the camp at Lake James has these, too)!
This large home had snowballs mixed in with tall green bushes all along the driveway

Light rain started around 8 but more is on the way.
