1st day of vacation......moved Catrina to get a pumpout and diesel. Next priority was haircuts for both of us - Mark with Gina at 9 and me with Debbie at 10. Back to Superior Marine, put Little Navy in storage with Flo and Big Red, untied the lines and we were on our way making the 11:30 bridge out of Port Clinton.
2 hours later we were in Vermilion and in our slip with Ed, the dockmaster assisting us along with 2 other boaters - LOVE having a smiling face(s) on the dock ready to take the lines! This is such a neat town and so glad to be back - all the lovely white homes on the canals (Lagoons), gorgeous flowers and fun downtown close by! I went for a walk with my umbrella as we were to get rain and sky was dark to the north, but only a few sprinkles. Browsed the shops and then enjoyed a lavender/lemon drop iced tea - very refreshing this warm afternoon.
Mark joined me and we sat in the park people watching and then went for a walk - last summer when we were here for 10 days (darn boat issues), we were docked alongside the wall by the Quaker State restaurant, but that is full of big yachts, so we are in a slip at the municipal marina. We had wanted to spend 2 nights here, but a huge contingent of boaters is coming tomorrow so we have to leave. Oh well......
Decided on an early supper and Big Ed's Soda Grill is always a favorite - the old fashioned soda fountain with all the ice cream treats +++lots of great sandwiches. Mark had a chocolate shake and kielbaska; a corn dog and chocolate malt for me! DELISH!
Walked back to the boat as the sky is getting darker! It has definitely cooled off from the warm humid afternoon. At 5:30, the rain came straight down and lasted almost an hour - a real gully washer!!! So glad we didn't dilly dally getting back to the boat!
I took sooo many pics last summer of the glorious flowers here but just couldn't resist this big tub of pink petunias and since I was wearing pink, Mark thought I should be in the pic.
