Tuesday - July 11

We are in Canada!    And this flag flying at haft mast greeted us at the entrance to Turkey Point in Norfolk County (pop 176).

We left Erie and the Wolverine Marina at 7:50 and cruised to Long Point, a popular weekend destination 25 miles north of Erie for boaters.  This long sandy strip of land extends 15 miles and has a few homes, buildings on it - otherwise, a real haven for anchoring out.   The water was aquamarine and so crystal clear.

Another 21 miles and we were at Turkey Point.    Although it's a very small town, the marina (MacDonald) has over 750 slips so a weekend happening place for boaters.   In fact, this past Sunday was the Pottahawk Bash which brings out over 2000 boats and 10,000 people all anchored at Long Point.   We're staying here 2 nights and then heading east and get away from their crazy busy weekends.    Pottahawk Bash is billed as Canada's biggest boat party and held on the 2nd Sunday in July.

Aubrey greeted us and we are tied up along the wall near the fuel docks.   The Jetty Bar and Grill is beside us.    I asked Aubrey why the flag was at half mast and she said her Grandpa died a few days ago, so out of respect to him as he was a long-time customer at the marina..   We got our power hooked up, but no water, so.....put several hoses together and connected to a water spigot outside the house/office and filled our water tank

Mark checked into the office with Aubrey, made the phone call for customs and that was a breeze.    We had lunch at The Jetty and then Mark got a bunch of paperwork, stats, etc., done on Catrina.

So glad we left when we did this morning as Mark read that the winds were going to pick up as the day went on and that they did....this afternoon we had gusts at 25 mph.

Went for a walk after supper thru the residential area - some really lovely homes and those cute little cottages.  We didnt' walk too far as the sky was threatening, so back to the boat and then the thunder, lightning and rain began.

If you want to read all about thee big boat bash this past Sunday (darn....we missed by 2 days) 😊here's the link
