Tuesday - August 2

Rain was in the forecast for today but just a few sprinkles and then by mid afternoon, we had some sun and blue skies!   We left around 10 with our bag of laundry, found a laundromat and got that job done!    Had planned to be at 12:30 Mass at St. Ignatius Chapel on the campus of Seattle University (Jesuit school), but no weekday masses during August!     Guess the priests want a vacation, too!

Came back to hotel to drop off the laundry and then set off on foot for some lunch.   We found the Dahlia Café and oh wow......sat outside and shared a chicken salad sandwich (one of thee best ever with little bites of fresh peaches on some sort of nutty bread).   Then we shared a triple coconut cream pie (sign said they were famous for this....another winner).    We also got 2 dark chocolate, cherry almond chunk cookies to go.....oink oink!    Walked a few blocks, got a Starbucks fix and munched on 1 cookie and our coffees en route back to the hotel.

I mentioned yesterday that we were in line for the Space Needle when the Blues arrived in town.   Found this article online this morning....what a neat treat for these folks...

Michael has been in San Francisco and will be flying into Seattle tonight, but don't think we'll get to see him?   He's here for meetings and we'll be gone all day tomorrow, so...hopefully he and Ryan can connect.

After several days of damp, cool temps in Anchorage, this Seattle weather is just so pleasant....cool in the mornings and evenings, but air is so fresh and love those deep blue skies.
Alaska has no sales tax....Seattle, 10%.

We went for a walk this afternoon - noooo problem getting our 10,000+ steps in each day!

Allie and Owen arrived around 3:15....sooo good to see them.   They've been enjoying Oregon and the beautiful coast...

We visited awhile in their room and then walked towards the water, had drinks at Anthony's and onto
Elliott's Oyster House for a fabulous dinner!

CHEERS!
Peach cosmo and Peach martini at Anthony's
So good to be together again....1st time to Seattle for all but Mark
Owen, Mark, Allie, Pat

Allie and Owen at Elliott's - Allie had halibut, Owen, the oysters, Mark and I had crabcakes!
Everyone - happy, happy!!!

Beautiful snow balls?    Not sure of proper name
These are cone-shaped unlike the round balls we usually see

Pretty lavender blooms

And the sweetest and prettiest of all....

Tomorrow we are leaving at 6:30 AM with Allie and Owen on the Victoria Clipper catamaran for Victoria (2.5-3 hour trip) and spending the day there.    Can't wait.....

Thursday we'll be on a boat cruise/luncheon to watch the Blues practice....will get back to this blog eventually....the fun continues!    Lovin' it up here in the Pacific Northwest
