CONNOR!!!

"Woody" - April 19, 2013
Disney Day at school

and 17 years later
Cheers to Connor for excelling in the classroom, on the golf course, hockey rink, fishing in his backyard, swimming with the CCHS team, serving as an altar boy, etc.    He's enjoying his summer job at Redbird Apartments and we're so proud of the fine young man he's become!

We had an awesome 3 hours of cruising from Port Dover to the Sugarloaf Marina in Port Colborne - the water was a gorgeous blue-green, waves were calm and the sun was shining!    When we were coming from Erie, PA to Turkey Point, ON last Tuesday, we were in 210' of water (1st time to see 3 digits on the depth gauge for this lake), usually 40ish but much of the time, really shallow coming into the harbors.

So of the 12 original small towns we had planned to visit, some are not going to happen because water is too shallow or they cannot accommodate Catrina.  So far there's St. Williams, Port Rowan, Port Maitland/Dunnville.   Possibly more to come?

We did enter the Port Maitland/Dunnville harbor (Mark can check this off his list) and then turned around.    Long before 2006 when Mark retired, he had this dream/goal to visit all the harbors on all the Great Lakes!   WOW.....well, we've done all of Lake Michigan (125), Lake Huron (120), several on Ontario and Erie with more to come and none on Superior.

We arrived at 11:15, checked in at the office and took off walking a mile to downtown and lunch at Pie Guys Bakery and Cafe.   Mark had their chicken pot pie and potato salad and a flatbread for me - grilled chicken, pear, baked brie, carmelized onions with an apricot glaze - all excellent!!!

Sooo yummy

Walked back to the boat - lovely day.   We found a nice bike path so we'll check that out tomorrow.   We both took a nap - all that fresh air!!

4 years ago today our family all arrived at Rainbow Trout Ranch in Antonito, Colorado for a week of so much fun celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.

The yacht "Eagle" docked behind us here at Port Colborne is from Buffalo, NY.    Mark met the owner at Superior Marine this spring as they store "Eagle"  right in Port Clinton during the off season,

When we were at Pie Guys today, they had such a wonderful bakery but what really caught our eye was "Butter Tarts" a Canadian specialty that we enjoyed many years ago in Canada (Georgian Bay and The North Channel).   Oh my, they were just as good and gooey as we remember!   And this place did give us a nice plastic bag to carry home my leftover flatbread and the butter tarts!!!   👍

OMG butter tarts

We went for a walk after supper and crossed the footbridge and saw 2 big freighters coming into the Welland Canal (more on that tomorrow).
Neat footbridge
