Thursday - July 13

Woke up to strong winds and then saw that there were 4-5 footers out on the lake!    So glad we came to Port Dover yesterday!!!    We had some light drizzle but by 8:45, it had stopped, the sun came out and a beautiful day (so different than the forecast of rain all day)?    We took off with me a 10-minute head start as I was walking and Mark rode his bike.   Downtown is 8/10 of a mile from the marina.    After our trek yesterday to downtown and 2 steep hills and plenty of traffic on Route 6, I wanted no part of the bike (even though it's electric).    He caught up to me about 1 block from "The Coffee Shop" where we enjoyed our breakfasts (ham/eggs/toast for Mark and blueberry banana muffin and fresh fruit for me and....a very yummy latte).    All 👍👍👍

Hazlenut latte - yum!

Checked out a few shops, stopped at Tim Horton's for some donuts "in the future" (haven't had a Tim fix in a long time)!!!😋

Back to the boat - winds are 17 mph with gusts to 25.   They had been gusting to 35 earlier!  😲

Lovely older home along our walking/biking path

Our little great nephew, Beckett has completed his 1st round of 10 chemo treatments - what a trooper.   He has 2 weeks off and then starts all over again.    Prayers ongoing! 💙

Catrina in Port Dover

Mark read that in Canada, helmets are not required when riding bikes if you're over 18 UNLESS you are on an electric bike!

There's a sailing school here at the marina for children and adults.    This afternoon several kiddos went out (9-12 years I would guess)?
Future sailors

I rode my bike around the marina and got in 5 miles!

Blair called and we did facetime - heard all about her birthday parties next week when she turns 10.    She's having one with family on her birthday (July 19th) and one with friends on the 22nd.    She gets her braces off in 5 weeks!

The weather forecast sure has been wrong past few days.    Rain had been predicted thru the weekend, but now it looks like a good travel day tomorrow, so planning to head to Port Colborne (50 miles).     We're so blessed with these 70ish temps compared to the extreme heat across much of the US and the devastating flooding in the northeast.

After supper we walked across the street from the marina to where all the fishing boats were - wow, a huge bunch of boats along with many (fisheries) buildings where they prepare the fish for selling???

Just a few of the very large fishing fleet here in Port Dover
One of many fisheries all labeled with a # and letters
There are some real "has been" boats in the marina on land and this one has sure seen better days!
Quite interesting!    Has sliding glass doors on the back?

Such a lovely evening and the winds have really died down!

A bit of trivia.   What was founded on this date 86 years ago (July 13, 1937)?  I had no idea this delicious treat dates back that far???

Krispy Kreme donuts!
