Sunday - November 12

This post is coming to you from Mark.  This is your first clue that something is amiss.

We went for a walk this beautiful afternoon.  As we were coming back on the trail there was one steep part.  We had done it going up on our way out.  It has alot of leaves on the ground and was a bit damp.

Pat was leading the way and going down the hill slipped just a bit. She sped up to catch her footing, that caused her to start running down the hill.  All I could see was her picking up "steam" and I knew "this is not good".  At the bottom of the hill she fell down hard.

Her right shoulder was hurting.  We were able to walk back home as long as she kept her right arm in close to her waist.   The local urgent care is a 24 x 7 by appointment service run by a retired Emergency Room Doctor.  It does have an X-ray machine so we called and made an appointment.

Diagnosis from the x-ray was:  Fractured Shoulder.    The Humeral Shaft drove up into the Proximal Humerus and shattered it.  For us lay people the bone in her arm drove up into the ice cream cone at the shoulder and broke it.

It is the right shoulder.   In 2010 she had the left shoulder repaired when we were hit by a car in St. Petersburg, FL.

We will try for an appointment with Orthopedic doctor in Morganton.  Pat has seen him before in 2020.

Hopefully tomorrow night we will have more of an update.
