Friday - July 1

Happy July and bring on the holiday weekend!!!     It rained during the night and we woke up to a chilly, windy, very cloudy day!   We had a leisurely morning on Daisy and then left at 10:15 for downtown.    I hit a few more shops including "Sweet Pea" a wonderful children's shop!    ADORABLE!!!

Mark found a good bookstore, got a coffee and was happy.    These little MI towns get many points (in my book) for their coffee shops (Petoskey had FIVE), very nice gift stores, bookstores, clothing and home décor.

Our long-time friends, Helen and Leon (used to live in Bloomington and Leon worked at State Farm) came to the Blue Angel practice with their son Andy (he and Philip were best buddies), Mandy and kids (Katelyn and Evan).   They now live in Muskegon (their original hometown).

We met at the Grand Traverse Pie Co. for lunch (what a popular place with excellent food) and then walked to the air show (2 blocks).    Everyone was bundled up with hooded sweatshirts, jeans, etc.   Traverse Bay was full of whitecaps!

Enjoyed the practice and thankful the clouds parted and we had deep blue skies.   It's always fun to share the talents of the Blues with folks who have never seen them and that was the case with the Jewett's.

Afterwards we walked back downtown and had pie alamode at the Great Traverse Pie Co.    Mark and I shared the Mountain Berry.....wonderful!    Everyone was happy and stuffed as we walked out the door, stood in the warm sunshine and said our good byes.

Lots of traffic coming back to Daisy - we stopped at Meijer (it is the largest one we've ever been in - GI-NORMOUS - Meijer is based here in Michigan.

After such an icky start to the day, it is a spectacular evening (upper 60's, NO wind and clear skies).  We sat on the patio and had a glass of wine.    I walked around the park to get my steps in - this is definitely one of the nicest RV parks we've ever stayed at.    First class all the way.    The spots are owned, so each owner does his own landscaping and they have matching utility sheds (very nice utility sheds) with little side roof-top covering for patio and their wicker or other patio furniture.    Reminds us of where you stay in Naples, Jim and Lydia!

We had leftovers from Trattoria Stella (last night) and are happy campers to sit and relax after such a fun day!

The "B's" (Brady and Blair) all ready for a fun weekend at the lake

Sweet little lavender flowers we've seen frequently in northern Michigan

Onto a safe, fun patriotic weekend

 GOD BLESS AMERICA
