Thursday - August 11

Another pretty day in the upper 70's.    Mark emptied out Big Red to get ready for our trip with Flo to Jackson Center tomorrow.

We met Mark and Brenda at Gideon Owen for a wine tour.    When we had dinner there Tuesday night, we heard about this (also from Dennis, owner here at the marina).    There were 12 people on the tour and we had the owner (Quentin Smith) as our tour guide.    On June 12, 2019, Quentin and wife Donna bought the former Mon Ami winery.    They put on a huge addition and did a phenomenal job with the landscaping.   It is renamed after the 2nd most influential wine maker back in the 1800's (the #1 guy had a French name which Quentin could not pronounce, so he went with Gideon!)    It is gorgeous and delicious!   The original building was built in 1872.   We toured the basement - interesting hearing about the history and had no idea that northern Ohio was "thee" primary wine producing area in the country - it was the "Napa" of  today!   And we got to sample 3 wines of our choice.    It is now a popular spot for weddings (setting up for one tomorrow outdoors).

Bye bye to Mark and Brenda who headed home in "Goldilocks" to New Philadelphia after the tour.    We so enjoyed our time together and look forward to seeing them in November at Cypress Trail.

We walked downtown late afternoon and bought some s'mores popcorn (delicious and so addictive) at the Great Lakes Popcorn Co.

Plenty of leftovers from past 3 days, so cleaned out the fridge of all the to-go containers and enjoyed some good stuff the 2nd time around!

Liam and Connor both made the varsity golf team for CCHS and their season has started.
Good luck guys!!!
