We walked to Coffee Express for coffees (hot chocolate for Davis) and pastries. Veteran's Park is next door and such a pretty park with special tributes to the armed forces, pretty flowers, flags, a cannon and army tank. On home, loaded up the car and we were off to Cleveland on another very nice day.
Davis drove and we arrived at the Great Lakes Science Center (next door to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame). Davis thoroughly enjoyed himself trying out this 'n that on the 3 levels (a lot of it is geared for children and they were in abundance with big groups of kiddos.) He was especially into the music section all thru the years - plus all about guitars, drums, keyboards, etc., etc......Patrick would've loved this place.
We then toured the William G. Mather (Cleveland Cliffs) freighter which was built in 1925 and retired in 1980. It is 618' long and we were climbing many narrow steep ladders and got a real birds eye view of what it would be like working on this ginormous freighter.
We so enjoyed our time (Tiger cruise) on the USS Stennis when Ryan was coming back from deployment - that air craft carrier is over 1100' long.
Davis decided he wanted to tour the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame but since Mark and I had just been there a few weeks ago with Marilyn, we told him to go and enjoy. Surprised that he wanted to do this as so much of this music is way before his time. We each had a hot dog at a food truck outside the museum and then sat in the cool confines of the science center with our I-pads.
When we picked Davis up from the airport on Monday, we saw a big billboard advertising that Cleveland was home to the "Largest candy store in North America"! Really? We know Davis has a real sweet tooth, so......after we left the science center, we drove to B. A. Sweetie Candy Co. - unbelievable that this humongous warehouse had every imaginable kind of candy and then some.....it was off the charts and been in business over 60 years. We got some dark chocolate bars for Mark and Davis picked out this 'n that.
Golfland was next door and Davis loves his golf (regular and mini), so we played another 18 holes....Davis had best score again with a 48; 53 for me; 64 for Mark. However, Grandma got a hole-in-one on the last hole and got a little bank with candy inside (my prize after spinning the wheel). More candy to pass on to Davis.
Checked into our hotel and then off to Imperial Gardens - we hadn't had Chinese in a long time and Davis likes sushi, so.....it was good, but not as good as Mandarin Garden in Normal. Back to hotel - we are tired.....Davis went swimming!
