Wednesday - August 3

The HOT weather here today is main topic of conversation.....we were off to Granny Joe's for a hot 'n hearty breakfast.   I mentioned a few days ago that Granny Joe's was a former funeral parlor dating back to 1850.   Now it's this charming little yellow house and so cheery outside (flowers all around the porch) and inside with whimsical decals of sweet flowers, etc.  and serving up thee best ice cream, breakfast and lunch.

We went to Brummer's for Mark to replenish his dark chocolate stash.     Brummer's has been in business since 1904 - sooo many chocolates, taffy and every kind of candy imaginable +++ lots of neat gifts, cards, etc.   I did a bit of damage here!  😋  I was telling the clerk at Brummer's how much we love Vermilion - restaurants, shops, flowers, etc., etc., etc.    She said 425 volunteers are involved with the beauty of the flowers (planting, watering, weeding, caring for all the American flags, etc.) among other community activities.     They are certainly to be commended for doing an awesome job~!

As I was coming back to Catrina, I noticed this sign outside Brewed Awakening...

It's that time of year...

I had a 12:30 hair cut with Kim at Paradise Salon.   Another neat place in an old house that got great reviews from Trip Advisor.    I really liked what Kim did and only $25 - unbelievable!!!    I made another appt. for 5 weeks as Mark said he would bring me back by car and of course, then we can have lunch, get some chocolates at Brummer's, etc.    😀😃

Kim told me that 4x a year (January thru April), the "Vermilion Blooms" (ladies who volunteer) meet at a different location each month for appetizers and wine @ $10 per person and I imagine a great comradery talking flowers and enjoying their friendship over the long cold winter months, etc.

Stopped at Woodstock for some iced coffees to go and back to Catrina - it is HOT and WINDY!

Read and played games on our I-pads this afternoon and enjoyed (and sooo appreciated the AC)

We are enjoying the pics and videos that Michael and Brooke are sending from the Grand Tetons....

Beautiful country and kiddos

So shocked and sad to hear about the passing of a very special lady, Mary Burke.    We've known Mary and family for many years and Philip and Ryan were in the same class as Mary's daughter Missy (Philip) and son, Tom (Ryan).

Tonight we dined at Touche', the upper level of Chez Francois and more casual.    When we made the reservation a few days ago, we wanted to sit outdoors on the covered porch along the water NOT knowing how HOT it would be.    They didn't have anything available indoors tonight, so.....lots of other folks outside braving the heat and felt for the staff in their long-sleeved shirts and pants, but we had another outstanding meal!

Storms are brewing - getting some lightning and lots of nasty stuff to the west on radar - we are on the fringe....will we or will we not get some much needed rain???
