Wednesday - August 17

Beautiful day and our upperclassmen are off to their junior and senior year!  How can this be???

Liam and Gibson; Connor and Frankie

The school year is just getting started for our kiddos.....Liam and Connor today; Davis (junior at NC State on Monday); Luke (4th) and Maeve (1st) on the 24th; Brady (junior) and Blair (4th) on the 29th.

Davis slept in till 9:45 and we made the 10:30 bridge heading to Put in Bay.    The winds were from the north so a little choppy and we kept getting a spray, but no biggie!   First stop was on Middle Bass for a pump out (free) and then went to same spot we had a week ago today with Mark and Brenda at Park Place Boat Club (Dine 'n Dock for 4 hours - $30).

Walked to The Boardwalk for another delicious lunch - that's become our go-to place for Put in Bay.   Mark had a salad and Davis and I shared the walleye/perch platter (so happy he's enjoying this great Lake Erie fish)!!!

Davis at The Boardwalk

We walked to one of many golf cart rental spots and away we went for our 2-hours.  Davis wanted to play mini golf so did that at the Perry Cave Family Park with all kinds of activities.
Put Put golf - Davis won with a 55; me a 60 and Mark, 63.

After the golf game, we rode around the island showing Davis some of the sites and then stopped at The Chocolate Cafe for rocky road ice cream for Mark, Mountain Dew for Davis and iced vanilla latte for me.    Returned the golf cart and walked downtown a bit with Davis making a stop at the Candy Co.    Back to Catrina and off we went - this afternoon the lake was so calm - just a beautiful day!!!  Awesome ride (50 minutes) back to Port Clinton with a stop outside the entrance to anchor as Davis wanted to swim.....well, he did get in the water (jumped in 2x but at 77 degrees, didn't stay too long)!   😊

Refreshing "quick" dip
Davis and Grandma

Back to our home port and Davis started in on his preparation for dinner tonight!

The chef is prepping the appetizer

Our appetizers were bison steak strips and bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers!   HOLY MOLY...........those little buggers were HOT HOT HOT!!!!!

Seasoning the salmon

Next course, pan-seared salmon, mashed potatoes (thank you Bob Evans) and sweet corn in the husk on the grill.    Wow,,,, everything was delicious!!!    Hats off to the chef!!!

Grandma did clean-up and Davis and Grandpa walked around the marina!

Tomorrow we are going to Cleveland and tour the science center and a freighter.    We plan to spend the night and then take Davis to the airport Friday morning for his flight to Raleigh.

Liam and Connor played in another tournament today (CCHS placed 7th out of 23 teams and Connor got 9th place overall with a 77).    Liam shot an 85.

Congratulations to our friends, Mike and Claire on the birth of their new granddaughter, Paige Mary born today in Indianapolis!
