Monday, August 15

Rained all night long – nice and gentle (everything is so lush and green up here and not the usual August dry weather we’re used to). We left Waterford at 10:15, went thru 1 lock on the Hudson (run by the federal government) and then arrived at the Albany Yacht Club at 11:45. Been raining off and on….but I’ve been cleaning away – getting Catrina all spiffed up for Philip and Annette’s arrival tomorrow night!

We are actually in Rensselaer, NY across the Hudson from Albany.  Enterprise picked Mark up with our rental car (silver Ford Focus with VA plates). Mark dropped me off at the laundromat and he ran some errands; back to the boat with our clean clothes and then went to get some groceries. Came out and it was pouring and has been ever since! Rain, rain and more rain thru tomorrow!!!! We heard Long Island got 10” yesterday! Had BLT’s for supper (fresh tomatoes and lettuce we got at the Farmer’s Market yesterday were sooo good)!

So much tragedy going on…..seeing all the flags at half mast (while going thru the locks) reminds us of the major military loss recently and then the horrific accident at the IN State Fair – just seeing that stage come tumbling down….cannot imagine what that was like for those fans who were there for a fun night that ended so tragically.

On a brighter note, I had a nice chat with Sharon, head nurse at the Lutheran Home. Sharon said Dad is eating better and talking more!!! He continues to amaze us with his up and down days which is how they told us it would be!

Tomorrow we are taking a little jaunt here in pretty upstate NY and visit Annette’s aunts and uncles – hope it doesn’t rain ALL day???
