Hello from Sylvan Beach, New York where we are parked along the wall beside the amusement park on the shores of Oneida Lake. We left Brewerton at 8:15 having heard that the lake can get rough. The crossing (22 miles) wasn’t bad, but the winds sure picked up and glad that we left when we did. This unique little town  (1,071) is home to a very old-fashioned (it was described as an “old timey, Coney Island” style) amusement park which was started in the late 1800’s. In 1981, it had 8 rides and now, 21, with all the regular booths for games, arcade, food (taffy apples, cotton candy, corn dogs, lemon shake-ups and on and on). It’s far from the glitz of all the big name amusement parks – meant to stay small and unique and has  great reviews for its friendliness and cleanliness. Wish our grandsons were here – they would have a ball!!!

We met a couple from Lake Tahoe, NV who are Loopers and started their trip from Myrtle Beach – hope to get to Chicago and store the boat for the winter.

Walked around downtown as the skies kept getting darker and darker; only got a few sprinkles but after lunch, we walked some more – definitely a touristy town with many cottages to rent and motels along the beach and inland. Not much for shopping. We had our afternoon ice cream fix at Cinderella’s and then enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with our Nooks and played 500 rummy.   Dug out the jackets/sweatshirts as it sure is cool out!

Walked around the park checking out the rides, food vendors, game booths, etc.   Every Thursday night during the summer, they have an old car show along the water and average 200-300 cars per week. As we were walking around, they were playing "Bye bye Miss American Pie" and lots more oldies.   Wow…..some of these are real beauties!

Neat purple "oldie" that Mark was admiring

Had a very good dinner at The Canal View Café and winds are finally starting to die down – we are rockin’ gently here along the wall.
