Wednesday - March 17

Hope everyone had a great "wearin' of the GREEN" today!   It was a beautiful in SW FL and we had a delightful day.    First up was final packing of the car and off to a Quest lab for bloodwork for me (including Hepatitis C check - I asked the technician (Flo) why I was being tested for that requested by Dr. Freeman.    The tech said "Cause you're a baby boomer"! )  Okay.....something they are testing now for!

Then we picked up Mark's new specs for the computer and off to downtown, parked and had coffee and shared a piece of their wonderful banana bread at the Luminary Hotel (Dean Street Coffee Co.).    Sat in the sunshine and enjoyed our goodies before boarding the JC Cruise (paddleboat) at 10:30 for our 4-hour cruise on the Caloosahatchee River.    The weather was perfect and there were around 175-200 folks enjoying this trip on 3 levels - plenty of room to spread out.    The lunch (2 buffets served by the staff) was excellent with very tender, lean and flavorful corned beef and all the sides.

We enjoyed the top deck but out of the sun and had 2 very nice ladies (friends from West Bend, WI) join us at out table.    We all had Bloody Mary's to get this cruise started!  Most folks were wearing their green along with hats, beads and other fun stuff.

There was a DJ and dancing on one of the levels and a good time was had by all.

We docked at 3 and by 3:15, we were in the car and heading out of town.    We shared the driving and stopped in Wauchula for iced coffees and a donut fix at Dunkin' Donuts.

Tonight we are near Ocala (avoided Bradenton, Tampa, and Orlando cause of heavy traffic).   Drove thru lots of rural areas and much less stressful and not sitting in a "parking lot" as WAZE showed us.

We came 200+ miles today and still have around 550 to go to Lake James.   Keeping a close eye on the weather and not sure which route we'll take with the bad weather in the south and southeast in tomorrow's forecast - sounds awful!.   100% chance of rain at the lake tomorrow.

Our "cruise" ship!
