Thursday - August 3

After a quiet day yesterday here at Superior Marine, today was "happening"!!!    I mentioned way back in June that the marina purchased a new travel lift to take the big boys out of the water....80 ton (they bought it used for $400,000).    Most of June and some of July was putting in the new track.   They did some paint trim in the last few weeks and today was a trial to see how it all worked.... Bob and Donna (So Blessed) have the largest yacht (35 tons - 54' Viking) in the marina, so 8 guys (including Mark and Captain Bob) gathered today for the lift out.

Smaller travel lift and the new biggie on the right!

While this was going on (I was the photographer and sending pics to Donna), the big crane that's been here all summer for the track and putting poles deep in the ground finally left.    A big long-bed truck came in and took all morning for 2 guys to disassemble the crane.

Ready to take down
Down!

And now the crane and cab are gone.

This afternoon, 3 guys from Ship Shape cleaned "So Blessed" and then came to work on Catrina.    1st time this season we've hired it done....she is sparkling and the First Mate is very happy!

Another happy moment today......we needed to clean our Yeti cups (get rid of the coffee/tea stains).    Mark had tried baking soda, vinegar, but guess what did the trick!   Like magic......denture tablets dissolved in water and an hour or so later.....sooo shiny clean!   It's the little things!   ๐Ÿ˜€  And help from Google!

We were so sorry to hear last night that our little great nephew, Beckett (6) who has brain cancer did not receive a good report yesterday at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago.    The cancer has spread and now the brain tumor board will meet and review the next treatment plan.  ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Tonight we sat on Catrina's (very clean) bridge and had drinks with Bob.    He'll be out of here tomorrow when Donna and her sisters arrive!
