Wedneday-Thursday, September 6-7

So much going on yesterday and today with the concern and worry all about Irma....

Wednesday   we woke up to no view from our window this morning – really fogged in.     Fortunately, it was mostly up in the higher elevations and after breakfast, we were on our way.   We had rain all day – ugh!    Stopped in Martinsburg, WV at Cracker Barrel for lunch.    MANY years ago I had a pen pal from here.
We arrived in Roanoke around 4:00.    My cousin Clarine’s husband Bert lives here and we always enjoy our visits at his lovely home overlooking the city.    Bert was severely injured in a biking accident in 2008 and Clarine passed away almost 2 years ago from brain cancer.      This was an extra special visit as we met Joanne, Bert’s fiancée…….we had such a nice evening and they are planning a December 23rd wedding (that would’ve been my Dad’s 100th birthday).    Michael, (Bert’s caregiver) prepared a delicious dinner and so enjoyed our time together.    We were last here in May of 2016 and drove to Lynchburg, VA for the Blue Angels.
Joanne and Bert
Thursday – beautiful bright sunny day and after breakfast, we said our good byes to Bert and Joanne and were on our way to NC.
We picked Daisy and Toad up from storage and onto the lake by 2:30.    Unloaded all our stuff from rental car to Philip's trailer.    Saw Annette briefly and then onto Newton.    Philip did arrive home this afternoon - FL airports are overflowing with people trying to get out.    He flew to DC and then caught flight to Charlotte.
We went to Brady's 4:00 soccer game (lost to Sacred Heart, Salisbury) 5-0. but always enjoy seeing our Brady kick that ball!     We all went to The Tap Room in Hickory for dinner (good food)!!!
We are staying with Michael's clan tonight- homework, showers, bath and off to dreamland as rest of us continue to watch the Weather Channel.    Good chance that Irma will hit the Carolinas (one projected path is heading straight to the kids....Newton and Lake James.
Ryan drove our truck to Lake James and is hanging out with us till Tuesday.   He had been planning this trip!
Praying for the safety and well-being of our Florida family and friends.
