Saturday - October 7

I could get "high" on a day like today - ha!      73 degrees, deep blue skies and a gentle breeze out here in the boonies of Burlington, Colorado (east central part of the state).

We left Oakley at 9:02 AM with water still standing but nothing like last night!    Nebraska is out of our way but Daisy had never been and now (after KS, NE and CO), all there's left is Oregon.

Sooo many perfectly straight roads yesterday and today unlike the curves we are used to.    But once in a while, we would come upon a curve and Mark said that when these interstates were built out here in the plains, they deliberately put in an occasional curve so it wouldn't be so monotonous and people wouldn't fall asleep?    News to me!

After a few more hills in Kansas but mostly flatland, we came into just a little bit of Nebraska and then headed back south.    Saw very hilly parts of Colorado and all the sage brush, but then some flat land, too.   And those HUGE Rocky Mountains are just 170 away.

We are in the Mountain Time Zone so nice to gain an hour...

As in all parts of the country, there are Dollar General stores everywhere or Dollar Tree, etc.,    Past few days we've seen LOTS of Dollar General (no Dollar Trees) and many Sonic Drive-in's.

We check by phone and internet thru our Good Sam (camping) app for campgrounds in area we want to stay.   Usually not a problem having a choice of where to stay.   But sometimes there are few or far between as is the case in these parts.   And here in Burlington, while only 2 showed up, there are actually 3 and all on the same road.    They just take an empty gravel parking lot, put in a few electrical boxes, add water and good to go!    All on the honor system here as no one in office (actually I don't think there is an office)?    We are at the Burlington RV Park with one other camper.

After settling Daisy, we walked to the Dollar General passing Bomgaar's along the way.    Bomgaar's is a combination Farm and Fleet/Rural King and where Mark and all our boys like to hang out!    He picked up a few things and back to Daisy with all the windows open and enjoyed our books.

Good ole Trip Advisor came thru for us again tonight - "The Dish Room" was rated #1 and it was a winner here in the little town of Burlington.    Good food and very sweet waitress, Mary Kate.

Checking the forecast for next few days....whoaaaa, saw a "snowflake" symbol for Monday?    WHAT?
