Thursday - October 12

What a day....perfect weather and a nice drive from Santa Fe to Albuquerque with a stop at Wal Mart for some ice and a cooler (Daisy's fridge is acting up)???

We are dry camping for the next 3 days which means no electricity, no water, no sewer hook-up.    We do have our generator to use for a short time (coffee maker, microwave, charge laptops, etc.

We arrived at the Balloon Fest around 10 and settled in - oh my, RV's are EVERYWHERE!    Jim (Mark's brother) and Lydia are our neighbors and so glad this worked and they let us park side by side.    They arrived around 12:30.

Lydia and I walked around the massive grounds with soo many vendors selling balloon merchandise and all the food/drinks/snacks.

Mark and Jim went for a stroll, too, - fun just walking down aisle after aisle looking at all the RV's in every shape, brand and color from all over the country.

So fun to be together and share this marvelous experience and chatted away this afternoon outside their RV.    After supper, we walked to the main grounds and could see the character RV's lit up.   Thousands of people out and about on this lovely evening and everyone walking around in the dark oohing and aahing at these incredible balloons.

Eventually, the balloons deflated, the fireworks went on for a1/2 hour and now we're back on Daisy and ready to call it a night as we will be up early tomorrow for the lighting and then launch of the balloons!!!

As we were coming into Albuquerque this morning, this was our first sighting...

And tonight at the lighting of the characters....
Smokey the Bear

 Curious George

I took a lot more pics, but have to take when the burners are lit, so several did not turn out.
What a fun evening..
