Thursday - October 5

Another dreary day but didn't get the rain that had been predicted!   We unhooked Toad (Toad and Daisy are both VERY dirty after all the travel yesterday and thru the country roads).    We went into Wellington and had a delicious breakfast at Penny's Diner.    A yummy concoction of hash browns, veggies and then sausage, ham or bacon (I had sausage) and sprinkled with cheese.   Very good!

We checked online about yesterday's accident which killed a 25-year old man who crossed the center line into an uncoming semi.     So sad....

We hooked Daisy up and were off around 10:30 driving thru Wichita and then our destination, McPherson.     What a neat little town with cute shops and restaurants.   We settled in at the McPherson RV and Horse Ranch Motel on the outskirts of town.     Jim, the owner is the friendliest guy and even brought a picnic table
to our site so Mark could exercise in the morning.

Mark dropped me off to "explore" the shops while he got Toad washed and then stopped in at a local State Farm office to visit with Jim, an agent who Mark knew from around 38 years ago.    Jim and Becky are on vacation, so he didn't get to see them.    But, they are backyard neighbors to our friends, Richard and Linda.    SMALL world!!!

We had a delightful afternoon with Richard and Linda at their home - so much to catch up with the Blue Angel family, our families, etc., etc.     Their son, Lance is #4 pilot for the Blues, married to Kim with 2 adorable grandchildren for Richard and Linda.

We sat around the kitchen table enjoying warm pecan rolls (made by the Mennonites) - Richard and me;   Mark and Linda had Linda's homemade peach pie alamode.    EXCELLENT!!!!

Late afternoon we drove downtown and had a wonderful supper at "Main Street Deli" and more yakkin'.

What fun time to reconnect with these special friends.    Back to Daisy and hunkered down with our laptops and books till we get together in the morning for breakfast!
