Wednesday - October 11

What a fun day.....we left in Toad around 7:30 and drove north to Antonito, CO and the Rainbow Trout Ranch.    We have been looking at this place for some time as a possibility for our 50th anniversary trip with all the family in July, 2019.    Since we were this close (3 hours), we thought "why not check it out".

It was a fabulous, beautiful day and the scenery was just incredible.....all the aspens were in their golden glory!     After Monday's snow and high winds, a lot of the leaves had blown off in the higher elevations, but we saw lots and lots of color + so many evergreens and of course, those glorious mountain ranges.

The Van Berkum Family has owned and operated Rainbow Trout for 25 years.    After chatting with Linda (Grandma) and getting a tour (they are in the process of closing it all up for the season), we stood out in the sunshine and we asked all our questions and oohed and aahed at all the beauty.
Now to firm up a date???

Along the way back (different route) and oh so gorgeous, we stopped in Chama for lunch at JV's Place with delicious authentic Mexican food.  Then to Lowe's for some groceries.    This is a nice grocery store in NC but this one (same chain) was on a much smaller scale.

Back to Daisy around 4:00, I went for a walk, Mark hooked the bikes on Toad and then to Daisy so we'll be ready for take off in the morning...

ALBUQUERQUE
