Friday - August 9

Sun and clouds and cooler today - we had breakfast, said some good byes, did a pump out and in our way.    It was cool on the water especially when the sun went behind the clouds which was frequently and it was windy.    We went thru 1 lock and just 12 miles to our destination....Phoenix (NY).

Happy Captain

While we were in the lock and the wind was blowing, suddenly these 2 leaves
appeared on Catrina's  bow

First sign of fall?   Geez, it's only August 9th.

This is one of our favorites from last year on the Erie Canal and home to the Bridge House Brats who help at the marina with docking, delivering food, drinks, ice, walking your dog, etc.    They are a great bunch of kids and what a super program for them in the summertime.

Shortly after we arrived, Grace came with 2 cups of iced tea and menus to order lunch (guess we're not eating lunch on the boat....ha)!   The long dock soon filled up......Monday and Friday evenings, they have concerts and also a cook out - tonight features fish, or steak and lobster).

Enjoyed our lunch (burger for Mark and Reuben for me) and then a quiet afternoon of reading and a nap.   Walked around late afternoon and Mark met a nice couple behind us who spend 4 months on their boat up here in the summer (their 10-year old granddaughter is a Bridge Brat - 1st time this year) and the other 8 months, have a home in North Port, Florida.....how about that, Allie?)

Enjoyed some yummy haddock tonight delivered by Juan......and then while sitting on Catrina's bridge this lovely night.....lots of people in the park and music started, "Flat Face and the Shempdells" and lo and behold, here comes our new friend, Mike who has his boat in Brewerton and getting ready to do the Loop.    What a nice surprise.   He came aboard, ordered a haddock dinner and we had a great visit.     And then the skies started getting darker but just some light sprinkles.

Mike and Mark

So, nice to have 1st leg of this little journey under our belts - planning to take it nice 'n easy as my Captain is still healing!

The storm went south of us....amazing difference
