Monday - August 5

Lovely summer day......we left around 8 with George and Jane for Oswego.    First stop was Wade's Diner for excellent breakfast.

Cinnamon swirl pancake - yummy!

Then to the Rice Creek Field Station - part of SUNY and where George and Jane focus on reestablishing the white oak trees which were wiped out during the 1800's.    They were great wood for marine use and now in very short supply.    Through State University of New York students at Rice Creek, they are growing these trees and Jane and George distribute them to various groups, schools, etc., who are willing to plant and nurture them.

It was an interesting morning and we were back at Ess Kay by 12:30.   Spent the afternoon working on photos, read and took a nap.

Tonight Mike, our new "kid on the block" here at the marina prepared dinner - delicious burgers and lamb chops and a wonderful Greek salad.    Mike is Greek and recently bought his first boat and will be doing the Loop by himself hoping to start later this week.    Peanut butter brownies topped off our picnic supper!
