Wednesday - June 17

Spectacular day in Duluth and we thoroughly enjoyed our day exploring!    Left Flo around 9ish and walked across the lift bridge to Canal Park - several restaurants, bars, and brew pubs.   Some nice shops, too, but just browsed in one (ironically, a very nice "everything-you-could-want" for your kitchen!

Had coffees and (bacon/egg/cheese bagel for Mark and white chocolate raspberry scone for me) at Caribou Coffee and sat outside under the pergola - cute place and easy to keep apart from a few other customers.

Minnesota is outside dining and take-out only but not many wear masks (some stores require them).

So, we meandered along the waterfront - sooo pretty but also saw some devastation left by 3 very bad storms with hurricane-force winds (October 2017 - October 2018).    There are 3 parks in this area and 2 have been finished with great wooden (walking) and paved paths (biking/running) all along Lake Superior.    They did a wonderful job and now final phase is being worked on to be completed this fall.
These paths go on and on and on......well done, Duluth!!!

So many levels to this city.....and with all the old buildings , deep blue skies and places to eat, shop and sleep, it was fun to stroll along and enjoy all they've done to preserve this old and charming architecture!

Here are some pics from our morning "walk n the park"...

Mark explained what this man (part of above couple) was doing - burning the weeds using propane?

More pretties and oh-so-many lilacs (pale pink, pink, dark pink, and various shades of lavender from pale to deep purple!)

We walked some more this afternoon - total today of 7+ miles and  16,331 steps for me and 18,122 for Mark (8+ miles).    He was walking while I was "Zooming" with Kathy and Claire.    Also did Zoom earlier with Mark (brother-in-law) and Karen.

Check out this link for the Park Point area we are staying at on St. Louis Bay.    This is the world's largest sand bar.    Interesting!

Beautiful evening - BLT's for supper and then settled in to give the legs a rest!    Back on the road tomorrow!
