October 14

Hello from Durand, Michigan where we're parked at the Holiday Shores Campground (huge) about 30 miles from Lansing.

It's been a super-duper day weather & shopping-wise.    Sunny and oh-so-pretty out most of the day, but then the wind picked up and clouds rolled in and burrr...!   Had some rain, too, but didn't amount to much.

Left Traverse City around 9ish and drove to Alden (thank you, Sharon for that good tip) - neat little town on beautiful Torch Lake with some cute shops including The Mill House with every imaginable kitchen gadget and all homemade jellies, jams and spices galore!    The lake was sooo pretty with the island-colored blue water!    Wow....and we're up in Michigan in October!   Imagine that!

Torch Lake

All you ever wanted to know about this beautiful lake

I've been on a mission for past few weeks to find some fabric for new porch cushions.    Actually, I found the perfect paisley and coordinating stripe at our Hobby Lobby, but didn't have enough on the bolts.    So, in our travels, we've been scouting out Hobby Lobby stores and they all have it, but never enough!    But by golly, today, the store in Saginaw had it and I'm so excited!    So, we made this little side trip (Mark is so good about this), got the fabric and on our way to Frankenmuth.

What can I say about this lovely charming "Little Bavaria" , full of many shops, restaurants, including Zehnder's where we had lunch and so much more!    And then we were off to Bronner's Christmas Shop - this is an adventure everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime!    I had a ball buying some Christmas gifts............Mark sat in Daisy reading his book (both of us are happy campers)!

I'm reading some good books along the way, too.   Just finished "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" on my Nook - looking forward to the next 2 in this series!    And now, really enjoying "The Help"!
