Another great day in this beautiful part of our country! It was foggy this morning when we got up, but it cleared up and we were on our way around 9:30, but still very overcast. Drove thru so much beauty in the rural parts of Vermont with rolling hills, the Green Mountains in the distance, farms here and there, churches, many farm stands selling produce, pumpkins, mums, maple syrup, etc.
So very sorry to see this little guy and his mishap last night when a ground ball to second took a bad bounce.....
awe... sweet Connor
So we kept truckin along and stopped in Castleton, VT for lunch at yet another good diner....
The Birdseye Diner and along with some yummy sandwiches, Mark thought we should share a piece of pie (several choioces). We had coconut cream to see how it compares with Busy Corner. Very good, but Mark thinks BC is just a shade better!!!
This is the Castleton Library but formerly on this site sat the Castleton State College now known as Castleton University with an enrollment of 2000 students.
We crossed into NY and the beautiful Adirondacks and arrived at the Lake George RV Park and oh my...……..absolutely beautiful setting and HUGE. The skies cleared around 1:00 and oh my, just gorgeous and 80 degrees. We got Flo settled and then took Big Red around the park (just a fraction of it) and then drove 5 miles into the town. What a beautiful area with oodles and oodles of motels/hotels, shops, restaurants, etc. on Lake George - wow!!!
Deserted beach at Lake George
Beautiful carved canoe and native Indians
We sat on Adirondack chairs (they are all over the place) and enjoyed the view of the lake, gorgeous flowers, etc. Not too many people here but weekends will be hopping. I did some retail browsing and on our way back to Flo, came upon a huge outlet mall.
Some RVers (Jack and Trina) from all over the country (homes in FL, NY, and NV) stopped by. They are just a few RV's away and wanted us to see their Airstream (1997) which is a Norman Rockwell replica (only 50 made that year) and all the décor is Norman Rockwell. Quite something. They enjoyed the tour of Flo - quite a difference in 21 years.
I made a batch of BBQ and that was supper. Our thoughts and prayers are with family/friends in Florence's path. God bless them and keep them safe. So very scary...
