Tuesday - Rainy day in Boston...we were off to the Norwood Airport to get a rental car. Big Red is too big to maneuver the narrow streets of Boston. And then we were off to the Kennedy Library, bought our tickets, watched a 20-minute video and then started the tour. Exactly 7 years ago this week, I was in Boston and touring JFK Library with my 2 sisters-in-law, Linda and Vicki. It was really chilly walking around (indoors), so we took a break for hot drinks and light lunch in the café overlooking the harbor. Well.....7 years ago it was clear as a bell....today, the rain was pouring down against the big tall windows and visibility was terrible. Logan Airport is nearby and remember planes taking off and landing, but couldn't see them today! Oh well....we were inside and after lunch, continued on our way. This library is very well done and exhibits change regularly (displays are moved to another location for exhibition or put into storage). So lots of new things, but others that were no longer there (including several gowns that Jackie had worn for gala events while in the White House).
We left around 1:30 and just a light rain....drove to Faneuil Hall and the Quincy Market. Walked around - food, food, soooo much food. Maybe cause of the weather, not that many strolling around oohing and aahing. Rain continued as we dodged puddles walking around. Found the Expresso Love Coffee Shop and ducked in there to get coffee/latte (it was pretty warm and humid today, just wet). Decided we would drive to our nephew Jason's (Bob and Linda's son) home and just park and wait for him as he was to be home from work mid afternoon. Michael was to fly in late this afternoon for a dinner/meeting and we were hoping to meet him for dessert? But he was flying out of Atlanta and with the lousy weather in Boston, flights were delayed, so he canceled his trip
Enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with Jason at his beautiful condo (brownstone) in the south end. Sat and yakked , enjoyed drinks and catching up! Around 5:30 we went for a walk (rain had finally stopped) and love his neighborhood of all those brownstones, small restaurants, coffee shops, etc. (I could live here)!!!! Had dinner at BG's Oysters a small neighborhood spot that was delicious - had an order of lightly fried oysters and then lobster roll (me) and the guys had halibut. Back to his condo, said our good byes and on home for us. Foxboro is about 35 minutes from the city
(if no traffic).
So good to see Jason!

We thought today was to be dry, but a misty rain off and on all day! Oh well, another big day planned as we drove to Cape Cod. We have been so blessed with wonderful weather, so what's a little rain!
When Ryan was flying #6 and then #5, Corrie Mays was Blue Angel #8 (events coordinator). We so enjoyed seeing Corrie at air shows and also her parents, Chuck and Kelley who came frequently around the country. Corrie is now in the Marine Reserves and moved back to her hometown of Marstons Mills (Barnstable) with her husband Gabe. Corrie and her sister Samantha opened "The Plum Porch" a darling gift shop and this was a "want to visit/shop" stop on our fall trip. We had so much fun catching up, I wandered around the shop, spent some $$$, and a really fun morning. The drizzle continued and Mark sat on the porch reading and then time for lunch! We went to Spanky's Clam Shack in Hyannis Port (about 20 minutes away) and on the water. Oh my.....clam chowder, quahog (1st time!!!), clams, shrimp, lobster Caesar salad....delish!!! Big difference weather wise from yesterday....still rain, but much cooler and windy. Sam manned the shop and rest of us sat indoors - very busy, but Chuck had arrived early and got a table. And so the visiting continued......Chuck invited us to come stay at their home (bring Flo and plug her in) next year and that is certainly something we might do! Really enjoyed our visit with this great family and of course, the Plum Porch is just my "cup of tea"!!!
Corrie and Gabe are expecting their first baby (boy) in November.

Moving on and after we got off the Cape, we drove to Plymouth another quaint little town. I got a manicure and Mark took a nap. Drove into Boston and met our nephew, Danny (Mark's sister Janet and Mike's son) who moved to Boston in June. He and his girlfriend Julia (they met at the University of Minnesota) are enjoying Boston and all the new, exciting things it has to offer. Another great visit and dinner at Legal Seafoods Harborside. We had lobster bisque, calamari, seafood pasta, lobster casserole and lobster mac 'n cheese. BIG yummy...…
On back to Flo after another fun, busy day!

Found this cute little post office in South Walpole, MA to mail some cards!
And now for your daily dose of sweetness...
Miss Maeve is ready to take on the day with her shades, boots and purse!
And speaking of sweetness....Mark picked up this stuff at the campground store! Oh my...
Meant to post this on Monday just before saying good bye at Lake George to our neighbors from Connecticut (Naples in the winter).
