Friday - August 6

Sunny, breezy and warm today.....we walked downtown to Brewed Awakening for coffees and breakfast sandwiches.   Neat place!    Back in 2013, a Mom, Dad and their 3 adult sons decided Vermilion needed a coffee shop and that's how this place came about - they are doing a great job.    When we were in Vermilion in 2008, coffee shops were not that big a deal - nothing like these days

The Captain of my ship!

Back to Catrina, got our stuff stowed, electrical cords and water hose put away and we were off around 10;15.   A little lumpy here and there but nothing bad and after 2 1/2 hours, we were waiting for the noon bridge to open and then "home sweet home" here in Port Clinton at Superior Marine (36 miles).    Chatted with Dave (dockmaster) briefly and picked up several packages (supplies for some Catrina projects coming for Mark).

We are 1 day short of being gone 2 weeks - for the most part, had really good weather, visited new towns, met some nice folks, ate some awesome meals and enjoyed the coffee shops, flowers, etc., etc.  One thing we'll never forget is all the awful debris floating on the Ashtabula River and being "trapped".

Mark said "let's go out for lunch" - of course, no argument from me!    Dock's Beach House is a favorite but arghhhhh once again, very busy this Friday afternoon and a 30-45 minute wait as we stand there and see several empty tables inside and out.    So, Rosie's downtown was next choice - love this place.   Mark had a perch sandwich and I had a delicious chicken salad salad.

Back to Catrina and took a little nap, worked on the blog and read.

We keep hearing about vaccinated people we know getting Covid - fortunately, no serious symptoms as predicted, but our niece's husband has certainly had some struggles.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Aunt Dee who is celebrating #93 today!   Had a delightful chat with her - she is truly amazing living in her 20th-floor condo in Daytona Beach, feeling good and so blessed!

Vermilion is home to a 5* French restaurant along the water not far from where we were docked.    Chez Francois has been in business for 23 years and very pricey - several entrees start at $60+++, men must wear dinner jackets, etc.    In 2008, we ate at Touche' which is the more casual bistro and had drinks.    They also have the Riverside Cafe outdoors and the Parisian Room (private parties) - the building was formerly a sail loft back in the 1800's.    Mark does not have a dinner jacket onboard, so......this is definitely a special-occasion place.    A boat tied up next to us late yesterday afternoon.    The couple  got all gussied up (he in his jacket and she in her pretty dress and heels).    It was their 37th wedding anniversary and this morning they said it was a phenomenal experience!!!!    Maybe for our anniversary next June????

Enjoy your weekend!
