Sunday - August 29

16 years exactly from when Katrina hit, now they are dealing with Ida - just unreal!

We had breakfast and then took off for Rite Aid and picked up a few things.    Stopped at the Farmer's Market downtown.    Mark stayed in the cool car and I walked around but didn't buy anything - mostly crafts (homemade honey was popular), a few baked goods booths and just 2 fresh produce stands.

Went to 10:30 Mass at Immaculate Conception with Father Jonathan.    Schools here in Port Clinton start classes tomorrow.    The Immaculate Conception kiddies have a new principal this year - Mrs. Drew.    Last Thursday they had "Popsicles with the Principal and Pastor" at school.

We ate at 1812 several weeks ago and loved it.   Since we're down to our last 8 days, decided there are some definite return-to-eat places we want to hit before we leave.    1812 serves lunch only on Saturdays and Sundays, so went there after church  - Mark had the perch dinner and I had walleye cakes and a wedge salad.    All delicious.    Trying to get in our Lake Erie fresh perch and walleye fix as much as possible!

Stopped at Bassett's for some groceries and on home.    Today "should" be our last really hot humid day!    At least we hope so.

Mark spent time this afternoon plotting our trips coming up when we leave Port Clinton - distance each day, where we'll stay, etc.    I sure appreciate him doing all this and for the most part, he enjoys it!   We'll have Flo, Big Red and my car - a little caravan truckin' down the road.     He also installed the rivet in Flo.

I won in 2 games of euchre, we had a light supper of tuna fish and mararoni salad and then family zoom missing Jim and Nancy.    The highlight for us was seeing Philip who is visiting Mike and Theresa (while on a leg flying in and out of Chicago).   Lots of discussion on IL mandate effective tomorrow for masks indoors for all, the kids wearing masks at school (no problem) but dealing with the parents (another story), Janet's very painful knee after meniscus surgery, Marilyn making plans to come to Fort Myers for February visit, etc....

Back to work tomorrow.....nice to have a day off from our "chores" and stay out of the heat!

Have a good week!
