Sunday - August 8

Very cloudy and overcast most of the morning.   But then the sun came out and the heat was on!!   We went to 10:30 Mass at Immaculate Conception with Father Jonathan Wight.   Very happy with our "home" parish when we're in Port Ckinton.

After Mass we wanted to try something new for breakfast - The Island House (downtown) dates back to 1876 and continues to offer top-notch lodging   Loved the old timey lobby - very charming and quaint.    The Affair is the restaurant adjacent which serves breakfast and dinner.    We really enjoyed our breakfasts and a bit of history from the waitress.    The Affair was named after an affair between Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio that occurred upstairs back in the day.

The Island House is a stunning example of old-time elegance.

A quiet afternoon reading, relaxing and enjoying the AC  (low 90's today).    We made another run to Bassett's late afternoon - had a list of groceries but main thing we wanted was their homemade bologna spread which we had wanted yesterday and they were all out!    We've never seen this in a deli anywhere and have such good memories of Mark's Mom making this along with her chopped homemade sweet pickles.    Soooo good and a treat occasionally when we're in NC when Brooke's Mom, Judy makes it.   She knows how much Mark enjoys it!!!

Zoom tonight was mainly about health issues - lots of doctor visits, therapy, etc.  etc.    Missing Nancy and keeping her in our prayers.

Have a safe, healthy week!
