Wednesday - June 12

We are in Canada!   Good day on Lake Erie (113 miles) leaving Geneva at 7:40 AM and arriving in Port Colborne at 1:45.   Sunny and 68 and happy memories of this town when we were here last summer.

After settling in (power cords and water hose hooked up) at Sugarloaf Marina, Mark put in the call to customs.   Lady said it would be a 15 minute or longer wait.   30 minutes later, we were asked all the questions and then she told us the border officers would be boarding Catrina???    She said they would be there shortly but it was over an hour later that 2 guys showed up - very nice and chatty.   They had never seen a boat like ours, so checked it out for anything we shouldn't have, gave us our documentation # to put in the windows (port and starboard)  and then were on their way.    Our Canadian friend Ron has been keeping in touch about a possible strike for the border patrol folks - whoaaa....not good, but they have reached a tentative agreement, we are here and let''s hope there are no further issues.

We walked up to the office and checked in for one night and then downtown - really enjoyed this area a year ago in July when we were here,    One of our favorite spots was The Pie Guys and they have moved to a really nice, much bigger and way more seating in and outside.    It just opened this week!!!    We bought some butter tarts (Canadian specialty) cookies and fluffies.

Had a late lunch at Lock Pizza (wood-fired) and very good.    Then to Archie's for some sub sandwiches to feed our crew tomorrow.

On home and gave Catrina a good scrubbing - haven't seen any new mayflies since we left Port Clinton, but there were still several who made the trip with us hanging around or stuck to the floor!

It was a beautiful day and evening here and looking forward to our big day tomorrow heading thru the Welland Canal which could take several hours.    We'll be outta here at 6:00 AM.

Nighty night!
