Wednesday - July 3

A nice day in Cobourg (mostly cloudy and the warmest we've had in a while - 80.)   At 6:25 the power went out and it was not just here at the marina but downtown and not sure how much further.   Mark really wanted his coffee.....he set out to bring some back and that's when he discovered traffic lights were not working so that would mean no coffee to be made!

He was checking his phone and although there are several coffee shops, most don't open till 8, 8:30 or later?   But he met a guy on the street carrying his coffee and he told Mark to go to The Human Bean.   The guy had come in early (he opens at 7) and made coffee (not exactly a latte, but he added some flavor).

Power was out for 1 hour, 10 minutes and we were back in business.

We took off at 8:15 for a walk - first on the paved walkway along the beach - wow....very nice and so pleasant.    The Cobourg Trailer Park (mostly RV's) is right across the street from our marina and what a perfect spot for these folks who are right on the beach.

After the beach walkway ran out, we turned around and found the boardwalk (Sue had told us about this last night) - oh my.....sooo pretty with the lake on our left and so many gardens on our right.    After the boardwalk ended, we entered Ontario Street - wow...so many lovely new and older homes!      A few pics from our walk...

Ron and Lois, long time friends from here and formerly Punta Gorda, picked us up at 11.   Ron drove us around Cobourg - a really nice town of around 20,000.    Then to their lovely condo and sat on the patio under the gazebo and enjoyed tea, butter tarts, date bars and lots of visiting.    Ron worked for State Farm (Toronto office) and spent 2 years (1992-1994) in Bloomington at the SF headquarters.   I met him thru Exchange Club and then with our FL connection, we've been friends with he and Lois for all these years.    Mark and I always enjoy visiting and eating, of course, with them.

Ron brought us back to Catrina around 2:45 - we all needed a bit of rest 😄 and then he and Lois picked us up at 4:45 and off to dinner at The Mill (on the golf course where Ron plays every Thursday).    It was excellent and we had such a good time visiting for 2 1/2 hours.
Ron and Lois sold their FL home this spring, so not sure when we'll see them again....they are anxiously awaiting their first great grandbaby due any day.

Built in the 1830's this charming restaurant on the Mill Golf Course was very good!

A very fun day with these friends for 32 years!
